Justin Edinburgh 3 Foundation Logo

In June 2019, just days after his beloved Tottenham Hotspur had faced Liverpool in the Champions League final in Madrid, Justin Edinburgh suffered a fatal cardiac arrest, cutting short the life of a much loved husband, father and friend.

The Justin Edinburgh 3 Foundation was set up in his memory; in pursuit of just one goal, to increase the survival of cardiac arrest. The ambition is big and robust; to empower people and organisations to act quickly and knowledgeably when witness to a cardiac arrest, by increasing access to life saving defibrillators and delivering life saving CPR.

Every year there are over 30,000 out of hospital cardiac arrests and the survival rate is just 1 in 10. Early intervention through CPR and defibrillators can double the chances of survival.

Sadly, UK law does not require health and fitness facilities to house defibrillators. But the JE3 Foundation is campaigning for legislative change to ensure peace of mind, improve survival rates, and prevent the pain caused by the realities of losing a loved one to cardiac arrest.

Echo Sixty One have passionately supported the JE3 Foundation since its inception, it is a cause that means so much to Darren and Naomi, having both lost loved ones to cardiac arrest themselves. So far Echo Sixty One have raised in excess of £100,000 for the foundation and we are proud to partner with them as they continue to do such impactful, life saving work.

Kiyan Prince was a talented young footballer who played for Queens Park Rangers and was tipped for the very top. In May 2006, at the age of 15, Kiyan stepped in to defend his friend who was being attacked outside his school by another young person. Kiyan was stabbed and died in front of his friends.

Founded by Kiyan’s father and former professional boxing champion, Dr Mark Prince OBE, KPF uses sports and success coaching to focus on self (discovery, discipline and esteem) and to develop a “champions” mindset.

KPF empowers young people to make positive decisions and to become life champions, ready to lead, serve, and fight for the future they deserve.

And as an authentic voice advocating for young people, KPF uses the platform we have to undertake groundbreaking research and to call on policy makers to use their power of choice to best support young people and their futures.

Data from the Office of National Statistics shows that knife-enabled crime recorded by the police in the year ending September 2023 increased by 5% (48,716 offences) compared with the year ending September 2022 (46,367 offences). Notable increases were seen in the number of robberies involving a knife or sharp instrument (up 19% compared with the previous year).

This is not inevitable and the work undertaken by the Kiyan Prince Foundation and other organisations can and does make a difference.
